What is feminine formation?

Feminine formation is the ongoing process of developing our mindset and skill set so a woman can choose her highest good without compromising her nature.

Integrating faith formation with human formation is the path to sustained generosity. Formation gives a woman the capacity to give without becoming depleted; this is how we begin to redeem motherhood and restore the domestic church. We must first nourish the mother, so that she can, in turn, nourish the souls entrusted to her care.

— January Donovan
Why Now

Why bring Feminine Formation Circles to your parish?

Many Catholic mothers feel overwhelmed not because they lack love, but because they have never been given the formation needed to build a home that is ordered, life-giving, and inspiring. They spend decades believing they are a failure, when in reality, our society has failed to form them. It is time to make feminine formation a vital part of our faith journey.

Formation that is distinctly feminine.

In a world that can no longer clearly define what a woman is, parishes are searching not just for formation, but for formation that is distinctly feminine. Formation can no longer be generic — it must be rooted in the unique dignity, design, and genius of womanhood.

Women are more anxious, more overwhelmed than ever.

Despite more freedom, more options, and more formation journeys — women are not flourishing. Something is missing at the formation level.

A formed woman transforms everything around her.

Her marriage. Her children. Her home. Her parish. Her culture. Formation is the root from which everything else grows.

The call of this moment

Evil grows when good women remain silent, comfortable, and overwhelmed. When a woman lacks formation, she lacks the capacity to see the needs of the world and to engage in the spiritual battle for life.

The pro-life mission must be anchored in the formation of women, because it is only when a woman is fully alive within that she has the strength to choose life.

The Wholeness Arena

Formation is the path to wholeness.

"Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect."
— Matthew 5:48

The word perfect comes from the Greek word teleios, which means wholeness and maturity, not flawlessness.

Christ is calling us to become whole and to flourish in every arena of our lives, so that we have a greater capacity to fulfill His divine will.

Formation is the ongoing process of developing our mindset and skillset so that we can live a life of virtue in every arena and in every season of life.

You do not drift into wholeness; you are formed into it.

Formation is the path to living out our feminine genius — it can no longer be optional if we desire sanctity.

"The discipline of the body is an aid to the soul."

— St. Basil the Great

The Vision

Introducing The New Woman.

Not fragile femininity. Not vicious feminism. Something entirely new — whole and fully alive, modeled after Our Blessed Mother Mary.

From "I am woman, hear me roar" to I am woman, whole and fully alive, created to nurture humanity.

Restoring God's original design for women
She is a leader, a servant, a mother, a teacher, a friend, and a warrior for truth, beauty, and goodness.
A woman of discipline and order — her children and husband delight in her. Her home is a refuge of joy and laughter.
She forms her character in the quiet duties of day-to-day life, choosing greatness over comfort.
She respects men and values their irreplaceable contribution. She celebrates the complementarity of men and women.
She is kind without compromising her standards. Merciful, quick to forgive, slow to anger. Her light is undeniable.
She fears God above all else. She is a woman fully alive — loved, rooted, respected, and valued because she values it.

"The New Woman is the woman modeled after Our Blessed Mother.
Not fragile. Not vicious. A new woman — whole and fully alive.
She was made for such a time as this."

How it works

How does the Feminine Formation Circle work in your parish?

It is a simple model where women have access to the New Woman Masterclass — an online 16-class formation journey your parishioners can access for the year. Your parish hosts a Feminine Formation Circle where women meet to grow deeper in their formation and hold each other accountable to a life of wholeness. The parish subscribes to yearly access for all women in the community.

Simple steps to get started

Five steps from yes to launch.

01

Contact The Woman School.

Reach out to explore bringing the Feminine Formation Circles to your parish using the New Woman Masterclass 16-class program. We offer a yearly parish subscription so you can provide feminine formation to all the women in your community.

02

Meet your parish ambassador.

Once you decide to bring the Feminine Formation Circle to your parish, we assign a parish ambassador to work alongside your parish coordinator to create a simple plan to get started.

03

Pick your volunteer formators.

Identify the women in your parish who will facilitate small-group discussions and lead the circles. We provide their training, so you don't have to worry about building the formation yourself — we take care of forming them.

04

Advertise your start date.

Begin promoting the Feminine Formation Circles launch date and details within your parish. You can host it in-person or over Zoom depending on what works best for your community.

05

Launch with momentum.

Hold a launch date where women watch a parish introduction of the New Woman Masterclass, learn how it works, and begin meeting regularly. We highly suggest women purchase the accompanying workbook prior to launch.

"Feminine formation will help women become who they were created to be and unleash their feminine genius in your parish community — this is how we set the world on fire for Christ. We were created for such a time as this."

— January Donovan

What sets it apart

A category of its own.

"Feminine excellence can only be achieved through formation. It is only through the process of dying to our old self that we can truly give rise to a new woman that embodies the feminine genius."

"Reclaiming our feminine genius through formation is the future of the pro-life movement. It is only when women have life to give that we can truly reclaim what it means to be pro-life."

— January Donovan

The fruit speaks

From women and parish leaders already forming.

Formation is how we bring the Gospel into the nooks and crannies of our lives. Building habits of a Christian disciple through formation illuminates the darkened places within us so that our light for Christ and His Church may shine more brightly.

— Samantha Ernst · Parish Formation Leader · Wichita, KS

January's genius is her ability to take complex philosophy and make it simple for any woman to apply. She teaches us how to integrate the whole woman and how to live out holiness in modern times. Her message is not only relevant — it is prophetic for our times.

Catholic Feminine Formation · Results Framework

What a formed woman looks like.

The fruits of feminine formation reach beyond the individual woman into her family, her parish, and the wider culture. These are the results we see when women receive formation worthy of their vocation.

Women cultivate deep, authentic friendships through their feminine formation circles.
Women grow in their understanding of Christ and deepen their personal relationship with Him.
Women develop discipline that strengthens and sustains their spiritual life.
Women gain the clarity and formation needed to discern and choose their highest good.
Women learn to order their homes with rhythm, beauty, and intention.
Mothers learn to dream and align their lives with God's will for their vocation.
Women develop a life of holiness that strengthens their capacity to give generously to their families.
Women inspire their husbands to pursue their own growth and formation.
Women develop the interior strength and clarity to confront the spiritual challenges of our time.
The domestic church is renewed as a source of light within the culture.
Women are equipped to form their children in virtue and lead them toward a life of holiness.
Women grow in physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health — creating a life of sustainable strength.
As women flourish, families flourish; as families flourish, parishes flourish.
Women confidently live out their feminine genius both within and beyond the home — without compromising either.
Women develop practical micro-skills that support a vibrant, ordered, and intentional life.
Women reintroduce feminine excellence into the culture as a counter to modern confusion.
Mothers do not merely survive — they truly thrive.
The cost of waiting

Your women are already hungry. The question is who feeds them.

Every year without formation is another year your women are shaped by a culture that does not love them. The Feminine Revival starts when one parish says yes — and spreads from there.

"A formed woman is almost untouchable to the forces that fracture families."
"The parish that invests in feminine formation is investing in the next generation of the domestic church."
"All battles are first won or lost in the mind." — often attributed to St. Joan of Arc
